Here's the episode list for Season Two, along with descriptions and links to listen to them on Soundcloud. You can also find us on iTunes - just search for Married to the Idea!
2.1 End of the Year Smorgasbord
Romance, mockumentary, sci-fi and more - we tackle all variety of movies from 2017 that we devoured during our holiday vacation for a chock-full season two opener! *SPOILERS*
2.2 The Book of Life & Coco
Family, music, and the land of the dead - with so many similarities, which of these two animated interpretations of Mexican culture will come out on top?
2.3 Explorers
We discuss the fan-requested Explorers, and answer if its third act tonal shift is too silly, or just silly enough, to make this a nostalgic classic. Shoutout to Nick and Greg for requesting this feature!
2.4 2018 Oscar Animated Movies
The nominees for Best Animated Movie have been announced, and since this year we actually watched the other films besides the requisite Disney/Pixar entry, we have A LOT to say about the academy's 2018 choices. *NO SPOILERS*
2.5 It Happened One Night
We take a look at one of the very first rom-coms ever made, that no one wanted to be a part of, yet won all the Oscars, and see what made it so special. *SPOILERS*
2.6 Groundhog Day
Next up in our month of love - we pair up with returning guests and fellow couple Allie and Michael from The Apothecary Bee to discuss the romantic, sadistic, existential, wonderful Groundhog Day for its 25th anniversary.
2.7 Moulin Rouge
For our next entry in the Month of Love, we look at the Academy Award nominee that was said to bring back the movie musical: Moulin Rouge. Does the fun jukebox soundtrack, interesting lead actors, and colorful atmosphere atone for the shallow side characters, simplistic plot, and truly bonkers editing? Let's find out!
2.8 The Girl Who Leapt Through Time
We wrap up the month of love with The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, the award winning sci-fi romance anime. How does it stack up against other anime and romance movies, and does it manage to avoid the tropes of both?
2.9 Leap Year
Sorry for being away, but we return with gifts - a doozy of a romantic comedy, replete with scripted scenarios and a couple who hates each other until they love each other. Has Leap Year ruined rom-coms for us forever? Let's find out!
2.10 A Wrinkle in Time
It's another battle of Book vs Movie, with Disney's A Wrinkle in Time. Does the movie manage to keep the spirit of the book as a faithful adaptation? Does it stand on its own merit, or does it tesser too far? *SPOILERS*
2.11 Ballet Shoes
Another Book vs Movie - Ballet Shoes! Yet again, we wonder if maybe Aaron is not the target audience for Elizabeth's nostalgia trips. Can young girl's coming-of-age stories be compelling for all ages? Will he notice anything beyond young Emma Watson? Can he even remember their names? Find out this week!
2.12 Willow
We make this a threesome to talk about one of Allie's top five movies of all time, starring a pre-Batman Val Kilmer and pre-Harry Potter Warwick Davis. Does this fantasy epic hold up after thirty years? We shall see...
2.13 Avengers: Infinity War
We couldn't wait any longer - let's dive into Infinity War. Do NOT listen to this episode unless you've seen the movie, because it is ALL spoilers. You have been warned... #thanosdemandsyoursilence
2.14 My Mom's A Werewolf
We take another look into the vault of terrible free movies on Youtube to bring you a character study of a woman coming into her own sexuality through animalistic transformation...buried under mounds and mounds of late 80s awkward campy comedy-horror schlock.
2.15 Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle
We take a timely expedition into the thickness of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. Was it as good as or even better than the original 1996 classic starring Robin Williams? Or does it get lost in the wilderness of one liners and bad CGI? Roll the dice and find out!
2.16 By The Cover, Part 2: Judging First Episodes

First impressions are everything. As longtime lovers of the TV show Castle, we take a look at the first episodes of Take Two, a sexy ride-along from the creator of Castle, and The Rookie, a cop drama starring Nathan Fillion. And since we haven't seen any of these shows beyond the first episode, NO SPOILERS! At least, very, very few...
2.17 The Dark Knight

It's the one-year anniversary for Married to the Idea, AND the 10 year mark for this episode's movie, The Dark Knight. Has it, like us, stood the test of time? Or does it need to answer for the dark and depressing state of the DCEU?
2.18 Star Trek: The Cage
If you saw the unaired pilot for Star Trek, would you give it the green-light? That's what we're discussing this week, with Nick and Greg from the Media Nuts, to see if the initial pilot, pitched as a sci-fi western "railway to the stars" would've past muster if we were NBC executives who saw it in 1965.
2.19 The Blues Brothers
We're on a mission from God, with special guest Rich, to review The Blue Brothers, and not Illinois Nazis, Carrie Fisher with a rocket launcher, or the entire Chicago Police Department will stop us from talking about this timeless musical comedy.
2.20 Leap!
This episode, we dive into the depths of how far we can drive Aaron insane with plotholes, historical inaccuracies, miscastings and dancing techniques that aren't fanciful? (Who knew?!) Join us as we take a giant Leap! into a mediorce kids film that tries too hard in some areas, yet not enough in others.
2.21 Disenchantment
You've binged it on Netflix, now let's analyze us some fairy tale subversion as we discuss Matt Groening's newest show, Disenchantment!
2.22 Ant-Man and the Wasp
We're still not over Thanos, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy a fun superhero movie! We talk rankings, representation, and whether Marvel movies are allowed to be just okay.
2.23 The House With A Clock In Its Walls
It's Halloween 2018, and we're starting off with A House With A Clock In Its Walls. Does it have enough magic and scares to become a Halloween classic? Do the cool characters and fun atmosphere make up for the poop jokes? And will we ever figure out how to do a proper opening? Tune in to find out! *SPOILERS*
2.24 Hilda
For our second spoopy episode of Halloween 2018, we're reviewing a show as cozy as being wrapped up in a blanket with a mug of hot cocoa on a brisk autumnal night - Hilda! *NO SPOILERS* as we discuss the first season of this Netflix original, from its likable characters and beautiful art direction, to its unnerving earnestness and sincere joy, as well as which magical creatures we would be.
2.25 Practical Magic
Gather your coven close and bust out the midnight margaritas, because this week in Halloween 2018, we're talking about Practical Magic! Is this the rare case where the movie is better than the book? Did actual witchcraft account for its initial flop and subsequent cult status? Are we all now living like witches in the 90s? Get those self-stirring coffees, and let's dive in.
2.26 Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween
It's Halloween 2018, and Aaron can't stop swearing as we look at the meh-sterpiece Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween. It's worse in every way compared to the 2015 movie, and yet is also the best Goosebumps movie adaptation so far. Confused? So are we. Listener beware - you're in for expletives, spoilers, and scares!
2.27 She-Ra and the Princesses of Power
We're celebrating this Thanksgiving with our new fave animated Netflix show, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power! Does the new Illumination animated movie hold up to the original Chuck Jones classic? Does it make up for the sins of the Jim Carrey version? Is there a Who pope? All this, and more, lie within our first Christmas episode of 2018!
2.29 Arthur Christmas
